Lisa Jackson's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

A friend recently started painting for the first time. She simply meditated and allowed her Soul to speak. Her work was brilliant and unexpected. I don’t know how to paint, though I love to play with color, and create fun designs with stickers. The method in this workshop appealed to me. I felt it was a way for me to access a message from my Soul, in a safe space. It felt like an opportunity for me to explore and express what my Soul wanted me to see. And I embraced and appreciated how Laura guided us through the process. It inspired me to paint more, listening to my heart and just expressing myself.

How would you describe your creative process?

Sometimes I have an idea of what I want to write or color. Then I wait for inspiration, a picture, or the words. If I begin to write or create too soon, I hit a blank as I am not in the flow. Because when it’s time, the energy of it just pours out and I feel supported by something else whispering or guiding me. So, it feels like the energy of the thing to be created needs to percolate within me. I go for walks, listen to music, or clean my house. All the while the molecules, atoms, and light from the thing being birthed is simmering and beginning to gel. And then I feel an urgency to act on it. For example, I had been hearing ‘portal’ for a few days prior to the class. My Soul was already tapping me on the shoulder. The first thing I drew was my version of a portal, and then elaborated from there.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

My plate has been overflowing with wrapping up my brother’s life, sorting through my things, and looking at what I have and what I need and what I want to do. My work path has been halted for over a year. I am finally reaching a place of balance yet still feeling in a void. The insight my Soul showed me, through the painting, was that there was a world of possibilities to explore, and the important thing was to follow my heart and choose what brought joy and happiness and lightness of being. Not necessarily focusing on how much money I could make. I did get a job right after this workshop doing something I love.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

The process of Soul Art from writing words of inspiration, symbols, setting an intention, and body mapping created such a holistic experience and unique way of accessing my subconscious. The method helped me create a road map, to home in to my Soul’s whispers, quieting my mind. It led me to the message my Soul wanted to express. It brought me back to joy.
