Pamela McKinnie's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

I wanted to be part of the Soul Art Journey experience and share that experience with others around the world. And my piece has a message that is important to me and that I also wanted to share.

How would you describe your creative process?

I lay a canvas on the floor and randomly throw paint at it with no conscious image in mind. I scrape and move paint around like a 3 year old child. Then I look at the abstract until it reveals something to me. At that point I add many layers of paint creating a recognizable image. Because of the process images appear that are both conscious and unconscious. I hope that the final image allows people to see the world in a new way and to embrace both the conscious and the mystical.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

That life is connected at the soul level between people, animals, nature and all that is.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

I call this piece “Listen to the Lost Voices.” In today’s world full of divisive voices and conflict, there are so many whose voices are lost. The voices of women and minorities who are considered to be different because of their gender, race, sexual preference or beliefs. In these troubled times, these voices need to be heard.
