Aparna's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

Art runs through my veins, it’s always been my go-to way to express myself, spread messages and understand the world around me. I have been following Laura’s work for a few years and am always inspired with her giant works of art as well as her journey.

How would you describe your creative process?

I usually receive insights from the outside world or a stirring begins within me and I know I have to express it. My usual way of doing so is with paper and materials like paint, crayons etc. I have stuck to old-school media and it always brings out what I envision. I find it organic and therapeutic, like what it is for the various artists featured on Soul Art Day!

As I go on with my piece, elements get added in and I am pleased. I feel like it is finished at some point but then I look closer and feeling something needs to be added and I go back in, with better results than before.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

The first thing that struck me was, even with my eyes closed and scribbling, there was a certain method to my madness. What transpired was quite a feasible work of art and I feel truly blessed that this is the gift that has been bestowed upon me.

Art is truly a journey into the Soul, a unique expression and the exercises along with the meditative processes prior to the actual creation really got me thinking about what my journey here is, combined with my area world and how they all make sense to me.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

Go with the flow. If you feel a stirring within, pursue it. Don’t worry about what others think or say, especially if it’s something negative. Someone, somewhere needed to see your art and feel something within them- sadness, happiness, fear, anything!

Connecting with artists is also powerful as pointed out by Laura and coming together as this huge community bolstered all our spirits.
