Feather's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

I was so anxious to see what my guides would share with me on Soul Art Day. I love the freedom and encouragement of creativity that Laura shares as we discover a new journey each time. Her special practice of using body mapping is unique and a powerful way of bringing all of our body into our work, not just our brain and mind. I’m always surprised at the images and the messages I am given. There is really no wrong way of doing this. Recently I wrote this about my art and believing in it. Soul Art Day is a wonderful opportunity for us each to feel free enough with Laura’s encouragement to create art that we truly believe….. without feeling we must compare it to anyone else’s work !!!

How would you describe your creative process?

My art isn’t always beautifully drawn or painted realistically or about pretty pictures and well known subjects. It’s about me, my questions and the information I am given by my Guides. It is about letting my brush or pencil fly as they feel a need to, about turning the painting upside down and deciding it works better from there. It’s about …..Seeing…. the images that magically appear on my canvas or paper unbidden, except as answers to a question I have posed. It is about things beyond ration, or understanding that may cause one to question, to consider, to dislike and sometimes to like. You may feel drawn to it or repelled by it or even bored. It is making the invisible….visible. I know that my art is mine, is original and valid, sometimes wild, regardless of how well it sells or how many enjoy it. It always comes from my Heart and Soul. It is fabulously, authentically me.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

The insights were a profound conformation that it is truly my free will and necessity to allow myself to pursue what is important to me and my soul…to take a much needed journey and change some other situations in my life. I was told that my hands would become my feet…possibly meaning that my forward movements woudl come from the work my ands were doing? That this painting lived in my lungs….I have been having breathing problems and the complete JOY that it gave me brought happiness and air to me. Right side up is Upside Down…Perhaps what had seemed important before was now to be replaced what was being recognized as of more true importance. And finally it reconnected me with a magical plant spirit called the Thorn Blooded Witch who feels like one I have worked with in many previous lives. She is the diva and plant spirit of the rose.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

As I began this painting I was in tears, feeling the sadness of the world and of my own needed changes. As I worked, when I came to the bold, white calligraphy stroke that represented my ownership of this painting and dominated it, my brush made the shapes on its own and it gave me the most profound feelings of joy. I felt happy the rest of the day and knew it was a powerful affirmation of what I have known to be true and needed for myself and that the transitions would now be part of my planned, immediate future.
