Holly Rich's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

This was my first year. I happened to see an advertisement for this event through Instagram. I was soooo excited to do something like this. I’ve always been interested in art, creative process and even more recently art therapy. I was thrilled to jump in, and so grateful for this opportunity to be a part of this bigger energy of amazing people.

How would you describe your creative process?

I was led to believe for most of my life that art was about skill and keeping uniform within an acceptable ‘art’ box if it were to be “good” or “marketable”. Only relatively recently in the last year or so I’ve been starting to unlearn this and it has brought so much joy back in to my life. I’m so thrilled to be on this journey and continue to connect creatively with myself. I’m learning to stop questioning what my brain thinks I should draw and let other parts of me take over and do it.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

Through this event and process, I gained some really valuable insight for myself. I thought a lot about my “I am” statement, and was so hesitant at the beginning of the process to feel like I had something. So much has been turning over in my life, there’s a lot to let go of, and a lot of new things I need and want to embrace. In the time of this process and self reflection I was really able to see some new things; new and next steps to take in my life, clarity about decisions and questions I had been pondering, and was finally able to come to “I AM READY”, I then thought about all of these new things I want to embrace, and make note of them too.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

This is an effective self-care activity. I got so much out of this. The explanations and examples were so helpful. I know that at times in my life I may feel off balanced or out of touch with myself, I can do activities and creative exercises and realign myself. In doing this, I not only help myself, but become primed be better help and support others.
