Paige Ozma Ashmore's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

I was excited to participate in an event that involved artists and soul explorers from all over the world. I was intrigued with the idea of connecting deep within and finding what was there. Your videos were very inspiring. I loved that it was an day event.

How would you describe your creative process?

I do all of my paintings in ceremony. I smudge the canvas and mix up my own version of holy water to use with my acrylic paint. I write my prayer, or a wish or an intention on the canvas before I start. Sometimes I know what I’m going to paint, or whether what I’d like to paint, but it morphs into something else. I allow that because it’s coming from a deeper place than what I think I want.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

The insight I received the most was connecting with those places of my self where I’ve been mourning for things in my life – espcially those places in my body I’ve disowned. I really connected with the Dark Goddess. She showed up several times during the day. It was like a phoenix rising, but not in some fiery birth. It was something more gentle and ethereal. She taught me that I could be brave without being hard.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

I think it’s important not to judge your process as it’s happening. Parts of it will flow beautifully as you let the allowing in, while other parts you will question, maybe you’ll surrender to your fear a little, then pull yourself out. You might sit in doubt, you may try to think it through as a way of rescuing your heart from too much feeling. But then you let go, you move from judgment and just let it be what it is. Beauty comes from that quiet place.
