Donnette Hill Walto's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

I find the creative process of art, in any form to be grounding and uplifting at the same time. I have been drawn to Laura’s creative energy and love to explore various ways to mix up my own. This came at just the right time and my heart jumped at the chance.

How would you describe your creative process?

I had just finished teaching a yoga class and so was very receptive to the energies flowing around me. My daughter was home from school and we put on some fun music, spread out in our yoga/dance space and let the energies flow. We both painted me on paper, her on paper and herself, I collaged and she moved into dance. It was lovely. My second daughter also created a piece of art when she arrived home from school.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

I need to sit with it some more to explore, but open your heart is what comes right now to me.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

By me taking this soul art journey, it also opened up my daughters and gave them permission, so to speak, to also participate and to create, something we all love to do, but often don’t find time to do. Fitting it into our busy day and sharing that experience together yet each in our own creative ways was the most moving part of the experience for me.
