Patricia Robinson's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

I loved creating art as a child, but gave it up years ago when I started college. Then earlier this year I started an online visual journaling class and feel like I’m coming home to myself. As a therapist, I love the way symbol and metaphor speak to us, and art allows that to happen. When I saw Soul Art Day, I was excited to join a community of painters and artists, amateurs and professionals.

How would you describe your creative process?

My process is all about experimentation, because I don’t have much experience with creating art. This is the first portrait I’ve ever painted, and I’m just starting to try creating layers of art, texture, and color. Mostly I’m just having fun. And being brave in posting it online!

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

I started in my small journal, so I was pretty limited in what I could trace. I chose my hands and the words “Reach” and “Receive” came to mind as I was tracing. The outlines underneath don’t show, but they influenced all the other layers.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

There is inspiration and energy in community, even online community. And we speak to ourselves through art.
