Amber's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

The last year has been an enormous spiritual awakening for me, and I have found myself pulled to methods of connecting with, exploring, and healing the soul. I have also wanted to bring creativity and art into my life. The Soul Art journey is a perfect fit for both.

How would you describe your creative process?

I watch the images in my mind’s eye and then attempt to replicate them.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

When I thought about what body part to use for bodymapping, the first image I envisioned was the profile of my head. I didn’t have anyone to help me trace it, so I then saw my hands over my heart. It seems like a no-brainer, but it was a moment that gave me pause, to articulate that my head, heart, and hands are the physical parts of me through which my life purpose is playing out: Thought and inspiration, intuition and love, and service and giving.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

I’ve only painted in those wine-and-social events where everyone paints the same thing, exactly how the teacher instructs you to. I have never used watercolors before. I went into this experience with no training and no clue, but fully ready to accept whatever piece came from it – whether it was stunning or a complete dud. I think one of the best things I could have done for myself was to give that permission that it was okay for it to turn out poorly. It took the pressure off, which made it easy and enjoyable.
