Pamela Hawkins's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

As an art medicine woman, I create this way often. I’m so inspired by what all Laura is doing, and I wanted to participate in art making and amplify the power of creating together and at the same time with the global community.

How would you describe your creative process?

I would describe it as real…raw, authentic, frustrating at times, intermittent, magical and surprising…and always deeply revelatory.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

My “doorway” in that day was based on a dream I had a couple of months ago. So I began with an intent that this be my visual prayer to more deeply connect my hands and my heart…and to share that with the world. I was moved to paint yellow flames on the end of the fingers. When I looked at it the following day it dawned on me that it was like my own “ring of fire” which is another name for the annular solar eclipse that was happening while I’d been painting. There’s also a little face in the heart and she kind of looks a bit surprised…perhaps by all the energy and vibrancy around her. I’ll have to dialog with her and find out more.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

On this day and any time I create soul art I feel it is just so important to 1) show up, and 2) allow. It sounds so simple, but is not always so easy. Even though I began this time with a specific intent, which I don’t always do, I had no idea or investment in “how” it would look. Allowing something to reveal itself to me and not constrict in the process is sometimes a challenge, but usually when, where, and how the Magic happens!
