Deb Taylor's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

COLOR!! Messy and Painty !! As a photographer and blogger I have allowed my photos to tell my story for the past few years. I am returning to the sewing machine with colorful piles of fabric and my newest adventure of Intuitive Process Painting. Now this scares me to death, to place me in front of a blank canvas!! But once I surrendered, listened to my intuition and opened my heart to a vulnerable place and space…I CLAIMED IT. Now I cant get enough. The pages of my art journal are beautiful train wrecks of color, smashing into each other. I joined Soul Art to continue to feed this new craving I have and love affair with PAINT!! And of course I have to photograph my art which speaks loud and proud, my story!

How would you describe your creative process?

I clear some space. Light the incense, pour the wine, play some meditative music such as Snatam Kaur. And I breathe deep. Then go in….I smear paint with my fingers…no brushes. I begin to feel connected. Messy. Youthful and carefree. I follow my heart with wild abandon. When I feel like I have emptied my creative vessel, I step away. I revisit the next day and fall in love with my piece all over again.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

I have been reminded to be fearless. I already live my life that way, so why not on the canvas?

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

Dig in. Don’t think about it. Just make art for the sake of making art. For the sheer pleasure of it all. No rules. No reasons. No rhymes. Just get messy!
