Angela Gilchrist bio photoWhat Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

I wanted to dedicate some time to creating art after many weeks of focusing on other aspects of my life. Being creative is a part of my self-care and wellness. Every year I look forward to International Soul Art Day. There’s something magical and special about it. Feeling blessed that I’m participating in my 8th. one and I love reconnecting with my Soul Art community. They are a compassionate and talented group of artists. I was inspired to create mixed media depicting an ancestral home I saw in a shamanic journey from years ago. It’s a snippet of an upcoming acrylic painting belonging to a series. This will be 3/3. My previous two acrylic paintings, 1/3 and 2/3, were made during past Soul Art celebrations.

How would you describe your creative process?

I enjoyed working in a quiet room this time with all my supplies easily accessible. I flip through old catalogs or rummage through my Ziploc bags never knowing what treasures I’ll find, whether images or inspiration. I love that no matter what, I trust that I’ll receive what I need. There’s never overthinking involved. I just allow my inner child to play to her heart’s content.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

I need to dedicate time to completing my 3/3 acrylic painting. It’s been on my mind for quite some time. My ancestors wish to connect with me and I equally look forward to connecting with them.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

While I was initially disappointed that I wasn’t set up to acrylic paint on International Soul Art Day, I was still able to create mixed media art on a much smaller surface. I could especially highlight details of the ancestral home this time that will likely not be easily seen in my upcoming acrylic painting. Some things are just meant to be; go with the flow.
