What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

I love the idea of painting in community – it is so inspiring! I’ve been slowly moving back into my art practice after a number of years, and I am so grateful for this “soul inquiry” experience, which has provided a massive boost to my creativity!

How would you describe your creative process?

In the past my creative process has involved a lot of planning, but I want to completely move away from realistic elements, and paint in a more free and spontaneous way. I love abstract art, and letting the process of painting take me on a journey! For my Soul Art piece I started by taping off sections of the canvas, sponging with acrylic paints and finishing with small drawings and stamps. It was so much fun!

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

I have a huge yearning right now for nature connection, and becoming more grounded in land and place. I was set up to use color, but my inner promptings led me in the direction of earth tones and ancient symbols. The old ways of the Ancestral Clan Mothers have been on my mind lately, and how to express the world they would have known, deeply rooted in the stories of the elements and earth spirits.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

For me, the most important take-away from this experience is the validation that I received, that I really can work in abstract forms, textures and techniques. This is such a breakthrough! And I hope this will be the beginning of a new phase in my art, in which I will be able to let go of pre-conceived ideas. Art means being in the flow~!!! THANK YOU
